Got my 100ml of Pi this week - absolutely love it. I love how sweet and warm it becomes a while after applying and the girls seem to enjoy it.

Are there any similar scents, maybe with stronger vanilla notes? I've read good things about Tobacco Vanile, are they remotely similar?

>> No.10093045

After using cdg fragrances, I've been looking at wearing higher tier fragrances. The ones I rotate between are cdg play 2 black and wonderwood. Does anyone have a good recommendation to go well with such scents?

I can't even wear mall-tier scents and I have ysl, azzaro chrome united and burberry because they're all too sweet/generic for me now.

>> No.10093075

>>10093037
Tobacco vanille is a much smokier and less sweet scent. Scents by Tom Ford are much more traditionally masculine than what you probably like about Givenchy. If you are looking for something in the vein of Pi you will be disappointed.

Look more towards fragrances like
7 billion hearts - I Hate Perfume
Havana Vanille - L'Artisan Perfumeur
Vanille 44 - Le Labo

I've always been really in to vanilla fragrances myself because musk has never really been my thing and it's generally a scent more common for women which makes it fun to play around with. Those are some decent ones I've interacted with in my search for other fragrances similar to Pi.

I feel like this is just me because this fragrance is wanked over by everyone on planet Earth, but Acqua Di Gio has a "sharpness" to it. As in, when I smell it I immediately get this short burst of unpleasant feelings, it's not really even a smell as much as it is just a sensation. It's awful, I tried it in varying sprays, tried it with only a little bit as well and it just sucked big fat dick every time.

This isn't make-up. Complexion has nothing to do with it. I'm just going to assume you mean fall. Of those that I have tried I like:
A*Men - But it took me a long time to "get it." Fucking love it in fall/winter now though.
Eau des Baux - A nice spicy vanilla.
Gucci pH II - More spring/summer, but I love this so much I wear it year round. A gorgeous tea based frag.
M7 liked oud before it was cool. Kind of like cherry cough syrup, but in a good way. Great in fall/winter.
M7 Fresh - A rare flanker in which I can't find any similarities to the original. Smells like Froot Loops to me. Discontinued, and IMO not worth the prices it's commanding these days.
New Haarlem - Nice gourmand. IMO a bit overpriced, so check our Rochas Man or Pure Malt for a cheaper similar scent.
The Third Man - It has its fans, but I find it too cloying and powdery.
Quorum - Tried when I was a noob and thought it was too intense. I'd probably like it more now. Super cheap.
Rive Gauche - Very distinctive barber shop-y geranium. I like it but don't find too many occasions to wear it. Kind of more of a formal frag to me.

pretty good, 10 months to a year of regular use I'd guess; Longer if you have a rotation of a couple more scents to complement, not to mention fragrances being seasonal.

Yes and no. The more expensive designer and niche brands tend to use more natural ingredients and different production processes. If you've ever looked up the prices of essential oils, you know they can get fucking expensive.

Not to say brand prestige and marketing makes a difference, though, e.g. Creed, which sells well-made, but very safe, accessible (read: designer) fragrances at exorbitant prices (I'm sorry, if I'm going to drop like $250 on a bottle of something, I don't want it to be boring).

But agreed, BK is way too rich and warm to rock in the heat. Awesome in cooler weather though.

Is Kouros actually good?

I often see it lumped in with "troll" perfumes like Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist, CdG's industrial bullshit, or Etat Libre d'Orange Secretions Magnifique

and there's this quote from an LA Times review article:

I was actually afraid to try it from its reputation, but it is easily in my top 5 scents >>10098295 . I get uplifting clean honeyed incense. I seriously think it might be a genetic thing like supertasters, where some people get urinal cake and others get fucking angels singing. It's certainly easy to overdo, so start with like 1/2 spray, but I rock three full sprays in summer heat and get compliments every time. Kouros is king!

You'll probably hate this stereotypical answer, but plain and simply because that's what people are willing to pay for it.

Also factors like it costs more than a usual fragrance to produce it, rarity, etc.

If every store sold it then it wouldn't be worth nearly as much. But since it's a 'private blend' and a little bit more inaccessible + a price tag they likely half-assedly through onto it give sit that over expensive price.

I love Tom Ford and I own some of the full bottles, but yeah, it's probably worth a little bit too much.

This. To expand on it a bit more, a lot of cheaper frags vs expensive frags do actually have a reason to be expensive. Cheaper houses tend to use artificial ingredients in order to make the scent. A lot of extracts can be stupidly expensive, and if they used the natural ingredient, it would jack up the price considerably. (There is somebody around here who knows all about this shit and can give better examples I'm sure) Meanwhile, niche houses tend to use the actual extract, which is why they charge so much. Whether or not the quality of ingredient is better is really a tossup, but most tend to agree it is worth it.

Private Blend isn't quite MDCI/Kurkdjian-level, but still very, very high quality.

It's very strong and smells very "natural" (I couldn't detect any chemical-like scent).

Still, way too goddamn expensive even after factoring in higher manufacturing cost and higher marketing cost to maintain the brand image.

Hey /fra/m, you might remember me as the anon who is just hunting around citrus fragrances as well as some other warm weather fragrances. Last time, I got some advice to try niche fragrances, and since I'm kinda bored with the two in my current rotation and army of samples I have, figured now is a good time to have some fun.

So, I would appreciate ANY recs of things to try from luckyscent. (Or somewhere else if you really think it is worth it) I'll try as much as I can depending on the budget I have for samples I will then compare it to all the other fragrances I've tried and enjoyed, and whether or not it is worth it. (Something I'm sure people are interested in when it comes to niche fragrances) Or just your favorite in general. I crawled into the archive, and right now this is what is on my list as far as interesting citrus fragrances go (and a summer frag)

Le Labo Bergamote 22
Tauer Orange Star (and some others)
Atelier Grand Neroli
CDG Play Green (I've REALLY been wanting to try this)

Wanted to try Acqua di Parma Colonia and its flankers and Creed Himalaya, but luckyscent doesn't have em. :^( Might try another shop, but I really wanna try CDG play green and nowhere else seems to fucking have it.

it's probably responsible for the cedar in Terre d'Hermes and, according to Fragrantica, Fierce is very musky and woody, so that is its contribution in that

as to why it's not explicitly listed as notes is because it's masquerading as the woodiness and/or muskiness in those, and they'd rather list "cedar" or what have you so the consumer will have an easier time imagining what the fragrance smells like and maybe get them thinking it's a natural smelling scent

and it's not just limited to Iso E Super and cedar/musky woods, most designer and a fair amount of niche fragrances are by and large synthetic

just to be clear, this is why i sorta love Neroli 36 despite not really liking the scent in itself

Yes I have, and let me tell you what, it is an EXCELLENT fragrance. It has a lot more going than just the citrus to compliment it. It opens up with a strong citrus, but then after a while, a little bit of peppery notes (or something like that) kick in and it compliments it really well. It then just sorta dries down to a nice citrusy, sweet, and spicy base. I haven't tried the EdP (mainly because I wasn't aware it existed) but definitely a fragrance worth your time.

I also have a SMALL update I suppose I can drop, since I tried some miniscule stuff from Sephora since here and now. I might be mixing up the Versace's though

>Issey Miyake Yuzu
This one opens up to be more of a greener fragrance with some hints of citrusy notes, but as it dries down, the citrus becomes more prominent. Overall, I can't say this is a remarkable fragrance, but it is still a pleasant take nevertheless

>Versace Eau Fraiche
It smells almost like nothing to me, and that is slightly distressing. in reality, what i really mean is that I find this to not have any real STRONG scent. It's almost like it is too watery to get any real performance out of the citrus. (Again I might be mixing this up, sephora uses boxes to label their samples now and so I lost track)

>Versace Pour Homme
Okay, I think I've said something on this before, but I want to take back what I said because I tried this again the other day and liked it. It's very fresh citrus. Like drinking a lemonade in a field. It isn't really a SPECIAL fragrance, but it is one of those crowd pleasers I suppose. I think D&G Light Blue Pour Homme might be a little more mild, but I bet that is just taste.

Will post updates when I finish my next batch, name for archive purposes.

Not a shill, iso e super is normally in my rotation.

I tend not to wear it alone, but imagine it like salt. It's pretty overrated, but it brings out the flavor in other foods.

I have actually had people come up and ask what I'm wearing before.

I can smell it on myself, apparently not as strongly as other people can though.

I mix it with a light, spring-based cologne such as Versace man or the dreamer or maybe aventus

Interesting, I've read about this too. People spritzing this on, then spraying their regular fragrance. does it increase longevity or sillage?

increase in longevity is very obvious, sillage is very increased I assume. I can't notice the sillage but i was sitting in a student center, essentially a small mall and 4 people walked up to me from the other side of the food court, all on different occasions, and asked what I was wearing. It seems to trail more, too.

Hi there! You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up.
You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, when your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation. Oops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started. Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely necessary to the post that you're making.
Now, there's no need to thank me. I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous imageboard culture.

Been reading around today and thought it'd be perfect to grab those ebay items EXCEPT:

-no seller responds to questions regarding the ratio of IES to alcohol, which is important
-no mention of which isomer of IES it is. The more gamma, the better (which is why Timbersilk, a close imitation, has the most gamma isomers on the market. still smells different from molecule 01 apparently)

What brand/source of Iso E Super are you using?

Also, do you spray it under(before) or over(after) your usual fragrance?
