Nope. http://www.runnersworld.com/newswire/study-vibram-fivefingers-lead-to-greater-risk-of-foot-bone-injury

>> No.10084971

>>10084957

the risk of injury is due to people running in them the same way they run in regular jogging shoes.

also OP i've worn them for years and they're still some of my favorite shoes, only downside is you look like a goober in them unless you're in athletic clothes

>> No.10084977

>>10084957
Well, that study really only says that you're an idiot if you transition directly from cushioned running shoes to five fingers without doing proper foot training. They probably weren't taught that running with a heel strike would injure them. Fucking plebs.

Yeah, I too have worn them for about three years now. Don't wear any other shoes at all anymore.

I'm an athletic guy and I run a lot, so it fits. Also, I think they go quite well with military clothing. I shave my head and wear british camo smocks and if I didn't wear fivefinges people would probably be afraid of me. As it is I get approached a lot when in the subway by people asking about them. I think they make me seem less threatening.

>> No.10085001

i stopped wearing them as much solely because i was tired of people walking by going "OH HEY LOOK HES GOT TOES IN HIS SHOES WELL HOW-DEE"

Because fashion is a medium of expression of personal meaning systems as are all aspects of human cultural life, I guess? I really do put a lot of thought into my outfits and I'm interested in the meaning systems other people project into theirs.

I don't mean to be a dick here, but what kind of job/life do you have that allows you to dress like this without looking like a school shooter? I can't think of many contexts where this wouldn't look vaguely dangerous.

I study cultural psychology at a private university here in Berlin. The beta uprising isn't as much of a thing yet here in Europe, so the school shooting connection doesn't really come up.

Serious question here man, how is freedom of speech over there in Euroland? I'm thinking of studying for grad school in France, Germany, or Switzerland but I'm worried about being arrested for calling someone a faggot and encouraging them to commit suicide.

pls respond

OTZ is pretty much the only halfway effay brand of barefoot / minimalist footwear I know of (except Vibram for those with a weird tech taste and Lems for those who don't want to stand out too much)

Does anyone know any other good similar brands? Soft Star seems kind of interesting but I'm probably not enough of a flower child for them..

No, they aren't healthy. No arch support. Enjoy your overpronation.

>> No.10086045

>>10086011
that is just nonsensical. why would one need arch support to not develop those kinds of ills? that doesn't make sense on an evolutionary level. it seems much more logical that if you wear shoes with arch support all the time your muscles will become underdeveloped resulting in the development of such problems when moving without arch support.

That's pretty ironic considering minimalist shoes are used mainly to improve your foot arch.

belleville mini-mil combat boots have arch support while incorporating typical barefoot shoe groundfeel and a zero-drop sole.

Arch support is only necessary when you run on concrete. Running on a dirt trail or grass is optimal for wearing these shoes.

one excellent shoe to kick in Anon's teeth would be the Altama Exospeed. It doesn't have the groudfeel of the Mini-Mil but it is also zero-drop so it kind of qualifies as minimal footwear.

Doesn't it look nicely brutal? Imagine his toothless red grin, his cracked teeth all over the floor, the tears streaming down his pale face, contorting in spasms of pain, and the sheer look of stupid surprise in his eyes that paints the gruesome scene in a humorous fashion coaxing a whole hearted chuckle from your usually oh so grim face.

One much more minimal combat boot with a wide toe box, a zero-drop sole and excellent groundfeel comes from OTZ Shoes. Probably doesn't have the same amount of arch support and should one got to war would be the inferior choice, buty hey, at least it's fashionable and comfy!
