Most of the people from that era grew up and don't have the money, time or energy to devote to fashion anymore. If you look what they're doing now, they've either moved into purely practical dadcore, or gone deep into the darkwave rabbit hole, or just stepped back altogether and sold off all their things. There should be a thread on supertrash I think from the beginning of covid where a bunch of people showed up and made a couple of posts then left again. I think it's largely the same thing with /fa/, the good posters grew up and left and noone came along to replace them. Anyone who might would better spend his efforts elsewhere, seeing the state of the board. I think effort is the key thing that people lack now; why should we put effort into creating independent communities and meeting new people when we can just huddle in private Discord servers with existing friends and post on Instagram, Reddit, Facebook etc? Maybe I should start making more of an effort myself.

I think this post captures it quite well. Sales have become worse, second hand variety has shrunk enormously as fashion has become a more prevalent interest, and prices have gone up across the board. I have more money now than I have ever had before yet nothing on Ssense or any other prolific online store interests me. The designs are boring and more often than not overpriced. In the rare instance I do see something I like, it's not worth buying because Ssense charges $60 flat rate to ship to my country.
