if you are going through a pair of PNW loggers in one season then you are a fucking idiot who doesn't know how to maintain their gear. the only time i've heard of somebody blowing out a pair of whites/nicks/drews/jk's in less than 3 years were the people who used calks year round and didn't oil them

false tongue, it protects the gusset from getting damaged from rocks/sticks when you're hiking
also helps protect the laces somewhat but those get torn up regardless
