Very uneffay.
The spanish goverment that represents a large part of the population has some oldschool putrid values directly connected to fascism (and even older spanish values). This has created conflict with more european-centred values of catalonia.

Right now spain has catalonia grabbed by the balls and the catalan gov is acting like a little child.
Overall Id say that there are obvious significant cultural differences between catalonia and spain yet a part of spain refuses to acknowledge it because they are into powerplay.
