The movement (and watch in general) was in horrific shape when I got it on Saturday before servicing it, so it could be anything, really. I'd guess maybe UV exposure? I dunno. With how beat to shit it is, it looks like it was worn daily until it eventually shit itself catastophically with a huge battery leak at some point, so that's my best guess. See pic related for a shot of the movement with the dial removed.
