also pretty much this, fuck what people think about your music. a strong sense of self and the ability to explain why you like an artist is more /fa/ than liking artists because they're fashionable. for example my favorite band of all time is my chemical romance (party poison is pretty /fa/ imo), and i wear it with pride, i just try not to associate with the more autistic portion of the fanbase.
