>what is the appeal of it though do you guys like looking futuristic or something

If it was just about utility then you could just wear untailored hiking stuff all the time (I know a guy who does this, he's cool as fuck but not fa at all) but it's not, there's definitely an aesthetic to it.

For me it's because I've always been into the whole scifi / cyberpunk thing in books, movies, video games, whatever, so it's part of the same thing and it's just a more personal style for me. So yeah the focus on functionality is important, but it's more because it's cool and not really because I "need" it. Like, I don't need waterproof pants any more than I need high end graphics cards, but it's part of the same thing.

So that advertising on Outlier or Acronym or other fashion/techwear stuff, take it with a grain of salt-ish,. For me it's part practical but mostly "brah check out my fucking ono sendai"

I could get more into techwear, consumerism, books, whatever, but don't nobody wanna hear about that. The bottom line is, for me, functional aesthetic > actual functionality. Not to imply that it's not functional, but more that it's something you associate with because of what it represents or because you think it's cool.
