pre 1970 is kersey wool. 1970-80 is a mix of kersey and melton. anything after is all melton wool. melton is thinner and not as smooth as kersey. best years in my opinion would be 1949-70, as the older ww2 pattern coats don't have lapels and are designed to button all the way to the neck. Pic rel are pre 1949 bridge coats but are identical to ww2 peacoats save for their length
