they actually aren't cases of product placement if you know what that term means. product placement is often used by shows and films in order to cover costs. corporations will provide free stuff if you're willing to showcase their products. but fortunately for the sopranos it was an HBO show. and it took off immediately. so budget was simply not an issue and no expense was spared

the series also attempts to serve as a time capsule in terms of pop culture. and pop culture is wall-to-wall branding
