Nope. Still alive and kicking. The watch in the picture isn't something he's had for a long time or anything, he just bought it because he liked it and wanted to give me a watch that is his taste for my collection, as I got him into watch collecting about 8 years ago.

Yeah, that's what I like about it too. As far as he's told me, he got it for about £90, so I think it was a pretty good buy given how odd it is. The wear on the dial and case is incredibly nice as well in my opinion. I'll take some movement pictures tomorrow if you're interested. It's insanely clean inside.

Speaking of interesting shit, I have a thing for watches that aren't necessarily "good", but stuff that is just weird. One of these weird watches is an absolutely awful fake manual-wind Omega that was made sometime during the 1960's. It's covered in ridiculous "18k Gold" markings. Found it by chance in a joblot of parts watches I bought on eBay for £3.50 years back, and it's surprisingly accurate. I've started to like it unironically.

I'm torn on that. I like seeing old watches get restored, but some watches I think carry the wear way better and look better when they have dings and damage here and there. Adds character or something. I got my Tudor Oyster serviced a couple of years ago after I raped it while running to the Chinese takeout place while drunk, and it came back looking absolutely beautiful. Pic related.
