you can get that kind of hem done but i would not recommend doing so on nice jeans unless they're prefaded/distressed.

nah most tailors can give you a lockstitch hem. it'll look and fade a bit different but its arguably stronger than a chainstitch and there's nothing wrong about doing it. see: wrangler jeans for an example of jeans we all like that come with a lockstitched hem.
non chainstitch hem won't have that yellow chainstitch line on the inside (it looks the same on the outside) and you won't get as much of that twisting 'roping' effect you see strongly on picrel. it'll be more uniform and vertical.
nothing wrong with doing it either way.
