Read the sticky. Read it again and again. Go to other fashion sites as well. I recommend /r/malefashionadvice to read their side bar.

Begin to formulate your wardrobe in your mind, but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, don't buy anything for a couple months. You need to study fashion, and chew over all of your decisions.

Personally, I started getting into fashion 3 years ago, and the outfits I thought were cool back then are LIGHTYEARS different from how I dress now. When I think back to all the shit I would have bought if I went out and started buying shit immediately... oh god kill me. The total time it took me to actually develop a taste that didn't look autistic was 3 years. So the more time you research, study, and lurk, the better. And when you feel ready, go shopping. I don't recommend buying everything at once. Work pieces into your wardrobe a few at a time. Slow and steady wins this race, for the same reason you shouldn't grocery shop while hungry.

Also check out AlphaM on youtube. He's a douchey-looking guy that does male fashion advice, but what he has to say is often golden advice for newbies. (Although, take it with a grain of salt, remember everything you read/hear about fashion is one man's opinion, and I disagree with AlphaM occasionally.)


Everyone must develop a personal style to match their personality and lifestyle, so I'm not going to sit here and tell you what types and colors of clothes to buy. That's your crusade. but I will give you these sage words of wisdom:

A lot of guys get caught up in vintage fashion, and dress like its 1945. While I agree that suits and fedoras looked really fucking slick, it gives off an autismal vibe, because it makes you seem oblivious to reality.
>Do not copy a person you saw on TV
You can never pull off his look, because it is HIS look. Its ok to gain inspiration from him, but never carbon copy.
