Again, its worth your time and money to take a class, even if its at a university or whatever. Stitching is very tactile you cant learn from just books/internet. i tried it as well, but if you value your time, get a good teacher.

if you want a book recommendation, try this. its a series of books by the same author, on coats and shirts etc. this book is actually amazing because it has patterns, nice cuts, and heavily detailed images of the construction process of the pieces. its in japanese but it doesnt matter because the images explain everything.
