with non-belty shoe colours, I think you should choose a belt from the appropriate colour family. if you wear earthy or warm tones, go for brown. otherwise black.

stay away from matchy-matching your shoes to your clothing if they are in a statement colour (red). matching neutrals is fine.

with navy, I feel like navy top - beige/white pants - navy shoes would work. navy is like a half neutral, half statment colour to me.

and its not for some ulterior motive like wanting to seem edgy as you say.

i just naturally find no interest in it, i would rather use my time here for my own personal pleasures and ventures

you can call it immature, but its not like i walk around spouting that philosophy
if someone were to genuninely listen to you and change their behavior and ethics, i wonder if it would be for the same reason you hold those convictions
