I tend to agree - viewed objectively (kek), a gold sculptural detail of Medusa's head is definitely beautiful in a classical Greek sense.

The thing is it's pretty much impossible to view these kicks objectively. They're inextricably tied to their brand. Therefore wearing them is not about saying "I think these are beautiful" it's about saying "I identify with this brand and this lifestyle". It's equally impossible to unmake all the cultural links - all the rap Versace name drops and the organized crime association.
