if you just want a watch that you dont need to pay attention to, get a quartz. You can throw it in a corner and just wear it occasionally. It'll keep time better than 99% of all mechanical out there.

if you want to marvel at a piece of engineering and know that your watch is powered by tiny springs and gears and wheels instead of just a computer chip and some batteries you get a mechanical. If you want to be able to put your ear to the watch and hear the escapement wheel and knowing that is a physical thing---to me its worth my money, the hundreds of tiny physical components needed to make a mechanical watch work is so much more than a quartz
