Rick says a lot of things. It's important to put them in the context in which they were issued.
>b-but he said to go to the gym, and not buy clothes!
Again, context. Rick is not telling you that it's okay to clothe yourself at target so long as your doing deadlifts, he's simply decrying the very prevalent notion that self-improvement or personal change can be bought or sold or paid for with anything but hard work.
Rick's love of fitness and its concordant mentality of "no pain no gain" is a love of people who strive to thrive and an outcropping of any genius' need to be surrounded by other exceptional minds.
Besides, you're talking to a man with a personal uniform he himself produces - he hasn't been a consumer in the traditional sense for some time now. He also speaks of people with ugly outfits as "polluting the landscape", so he doesn't deny the importance of fashion for a moment.

Holy shit, That's great!
As for things that aren't in the manual - what I mean is workflow and little ways to look at problems, like making your own drumkits that allow you to trigger several claps at once by assigning claps to the tom, hat, crash or hit buttons. This is not normally done, but if you do so you can really up the power of your percussion. Do the same for kicks.
Get a cheap midi cable and use part 1 to trigger something, anything. It can be a dirt cheap sampler or something on your computer.
Get the hang of using 'microscope' mode to make incredibly intricate drums.

There's a lot of little things that you'll come across, but as you do you can just ask me. I mean, we could probably just talk about this thing for hours. Especially when you start using patch editing - remember that you clan play 4 different sounds simultaneously for each instrument, but by default all but 1 are turned off. You'll see what I mean.
Also, I like to always pitch my drums down 1 or two steps. try it and see why.
That thing is really really deep, and people play it off, but if you are a creative person who knows how to use limitations to his advantage, you could easily create a dreamy, skittery, lush downtempo type of sound that would be almost universally appealing. If you really, really, really crunch on that thing? you can probably do cloud rap all day long.
The best presets are called "abstract hip hop" and "Artcore" (IMO), but none of the presets even hint at what's really capable with one of these things. You just have to invent a style that works for it. Learn what it does well and capitalize on that. Pitch your drums down for a screwed sound. Enjoy, and do NOT give up.
