up until those kent wang things (which look groce and weird on the foot relative to common projects, and the leather looks cheaper, see pic) there weren't any other sneakers on the market that looked like common projects achilles

show me a pair of plain open-laced white leather sneakers--no branding, no contrast stitching, no metal eyelets, no design details on the side like stripes, perforation, or panels. with the outsole stitched on and not glued like vans and H&M.

only THEN do you have a comparable design. vans authentics are fucking closed-toe three-eyelet CANVAS glued-on shit. generic plimsolls are not applicable here.

Alright /fa/ I want some white leather sneakers, and I don't want to buy CPs at the moment, as I've spent so much money recently. I'm thinking of Kent Wangs, but they look a bit "clowny" in some photos, and fine in others. I feel like in size 13 they would look either fine or really bad. Any of you guys with larger feet have any experience with them?
pic related is some guy with size 9 feet from ribbit. I don't like the silhouette of them in it.

Napa Leather is 80+USD for 6 Sq ft and cp are inner lined with leather. If you calc that they use 3 to 4 sq ft per shoe in just leather alone, and then the soles are what another 40 bucks. Add contruction/labor cost and you are well over 150 USD in materials and labor. Lets say after packaging, assembly, and shipping they sell the shoes to retailers for around 220 USD. The retailers take a hit for shipping/customs and taxes. They mark them based on demand for 400+. The shoes sell fine so they keep it there. I can't imagine any other brand being able to produce a shoe with napa leather with the features CP gives. They can definitely imitate the look, but at a lower price the quality will be considerably less if they do not use Napa Leather.
