Hope your enjoying my beardspiration pictures. I've been growing mine for five months now.

If you're going to grow it out you're going to hit a couple phases as it goes the first one will be scruffy and sort of awkward, at around a quarter inch you'll get crazy itchy do you're best not to scratch though as much like running your hands through your hair or over processing it too much handling will damage your beard and it will look unhealthy. As the beard grows longer you'll find you have certain sections that grow at a slower speed or have a slightly different color than the rest, don't worry about that it helps distinguish your beard and a two tone beard can look beautiful. Keep it growing and try to trim minimally.

As far as care goes use a good beard oil to help keep your skin and hairs healthy; beard brand and the bearded bastard both make some very lovely grooming products. When trimming don't over do it, you can always take more off but once it's off it is off. To maintain a neckline you typically don't have to do anything, most peoples hair will naturally stop growing around their adams apple and when the beard gets a good length to it this will help add girth and weight to it and not look unkempt, much like Chris John Millington's and to a lesser extent Ricki Hall's. Don't shampoo it, condition once every three days or so.
