I've always considered them a part of the neofolk scene. They've toured more extensively in Europe and Russia than they ever managed to in the states. Sean Ragon loved DI6 and Current 93 and shit so his music is heavily influenced by Neofolk staples.
If Cult of Youth isn't neofolk, then whatever, they're rock or post-industrial or whatever you want to call it but their one of America's best in this flavor of music.
