You can sparingly integrate folk costume items into neofolk fits, I wasn’t claiming traditional Carpathian mountain folk costumes were neofolk. You could similarly incorporate items from cossack clothing like in picrel, that doesn’t mean that cossack clothing is neofolk. Neofolk is a postmodern synthesis of pre-1950s outerwear, workwear, militaria, and folk costumes into a new, or ‘neo’ style. The most important part is to eschew synthetic materials, branding, and certain very ubiquitous garments of the post-WW2 era such as jeans and sneakers. No idea why this simple concepts makes people seethe.
