/fa/ what individual garment do you like the most, and why?

For me it's shoes. shoes shoes shoes. They are my favorite part of an outfit, and the first thing I look at. They are what I spend most of my money on (the money I spend on fashion anyway)

I am starting to get into sewing, I have a machine already but I'm lacking in the tool department. With some of the $$ I got for xmas I wanted to get some tools for sewing and drafting patterns.

The things I plan on copping are
>tailor's shears
>tailor's chalk
>hip curve
>a set of french curves
>bendable ruler

is there anything else I should get?

yeah after reading that last post I looked into fabric bias and I guess cutting it at different angles allows the fabric to stretch differently, makes sense I saw some close ups of woven fabric and can see how cutting it one way will have more stretch than cutting another way

How can you tell that something is cut with a bias just by looking at it? I see that on that dress there is some paneling going on but I can't tell which pieces are biased or not (or is it all of them?)
