no specific source iv'e probably heard it from some lecture or something at school, it does make sense. Many were inspired by the bunkers and war structures from ww2. https://www.domusweb.it/en/architecture/2010/06/15/juliaan-lampens.html

> it's also the architects job that people like their sourroundings and that the building is functional.
i would strongly argue that many of these brutalist buildings are functional, while others are more sculptural (which to is a function as evoking emotions, refrences, visions of the future etc is just as much a function)
> poeple like there surrounding
ofc, many of these brutalist buildings were experimentation of various ideas that yes they in some cases produced poor surroundings (especially the urban planning sort, brazillia i'm looking at you) but the fascination many have derives from this distopic brutal and hostile atmosphere which is often unsuitable for large urban housing. Architecture should not only be limited to cretin emotions >>13160162 is a good example were brutalism suits the function of the space evoking dramatic emotions, yet calm etc. Same as brutalist museums etc.

sculpturaly brutalism is the high point of architecture imo
i think you should nuance you view of brutalism and not merely view it as some sort of evil useless concrete for it is waaay way more than just that.
