The fact that a company can sell you a watch that you want is not remarkable or a sign of being 'outstanding', though it might depend on where you live. I am close to a Breitling, Tag Heuer, Omega, Rolex, Tudor, and other ADs...and only the Rolex one has no stock, with the Omega one having no stock on very specific models (i.e. Ed White and Snoopy). Even the VC and Hublot Boutiques are full, along with the JLC and Panerai ones too. When last I was in JLC, they had the new chronograph....

No, I maintain my position. Tudors are terrible if you have the funds for an Omega or Rolex. The only Tudor that is great is the Advisor, which no one owns or knows about. Most of the other models are Rolex copes or Omega copes.

If you love a specific Tudor, then that's all that matters. But if we start to play the comparison game, then they will always lose because they are an affordable Rolex cope by design.

It is, and it's used to record elapsed time. The great thing about Lemania 5100's is that they were 'direct drive', which meant that they were especially resistant to shock when used in extreme circumstances. That, and they used a rotating cam (which effectively is a 'column wheel' in function) and a vertical clutch, increasing the accuracy. Fucking awesome and bulletproof movement. When you combine the movement being awesome with the best legibility of the possible iterations within Omega, you get a 'Grail' version of the watch. Mine.

I understand Anon. Honestly, one has to always balance whether the grey-market price is really worth it, all in. It's a cool piece, but it doesn't make me hard throughout.

>>17856507
Thanks Anon...fuck that shit though. You want to know my list?

1) Roger Smith
2) A Lange und soehne.
3) Patek (but only for pocket watches)
4) Vacheron Constantin (for thin wristwatches)
5) JLC Tourbillons
6) Omega for general collection
7) Zenith for general tech.

And the rest. I'd put Sir George Daniels above all, but his surviving watches and pocket watches are unobtainable (hence Roger Smith).

There is always something one wants that is impossible to get, so at one point it because useless to mention it. I've seen Daniels' work in the British Museum...that's enough for me. I've accepted that it's better for humanity to benefit from enjoying the pieces instead of them being held privately by me.

What are you wearing Anon?

Thanks Anon. It was a grail of mine for decades, so I'm happy as punch to have one. It's a daily driver, and it performs spectacularly. You can get the non-Speedmaster case ones with the Lemania 5100 inside for just over 3 or 4k USD, but this particular model is the most desirable and legible, thus the significantly higher cost today. That, and the general rarity of this piece (around 2000 made, over only 2 years).

>>17826630
Nice ones!

>>17826668
When I got my 1861 Hesalite generic Speedy, it was around 3500USD for a scratched no-box-no-papers model from Japan. It's still the same now (there's one for 3375). If you buy the bottom of the barrel and send it into servicing, it should come back 'as new'. It'll be cheaper to do that than to buy full set 1861. The 3861 however is superior in nearly every technical way that matters, so the prices on those will stay high for quite some time. Such is life.

>>17826721
Neither have I, and I know 2 people who own them. They love them, and wear them a lot...so it seems a proven technology.

Shipping with insurance, sign-for, tracking...everything. It does exist, and watches go through this like any other small luxury good. True, you have to hope that nothing happens in transit (which is the scariest part of the experience, desu), but once it's delivered, a sigh of relief is jettisoned by both the seller and the buyer. If you're doing person to person, then sometimes people fly out to deliver in person to avoid the hassle.
