But japanese/Chinese don't worship Koi, and/or oni, other than fudo-myoo which is something different entirely, also it's not much of a Mish mash, koi aren't Holy, they're just considered "masculine" and are respected, and some koi have killed, like in the story of Oniwakamaru where a giant koi kills Oniwakamaru's parents and he goes after it to kill it

so a demon riding a "masculine" koi isn't that much of a stretch, you just don't see it that often, you usually just see Oniwakamaru or the Golden boy riding them

Also I'm fairly certain a Japanese "Hori" made the design, as well as Indians are much more manic than japanese ppl
