Fair point, although I meant more so that it looks like (and essentially is) a pile of cloth wounded around your head which a sou'wester hat clearly is not (not even superficially like the chaperone does). On a side note, the painting I originally posted by Jan Van Eyck is sometimes called "Portrait of a Man in a Red Turban" despite him not actually wearing a turban; it just goes to show how superficially similar they are. It is fundamentally different though, I will admit this, and I was incorrect when I called it a turban.
