I disagree. Something like a fedora (or any hat for that matter) does have certain connotations that can ruin a formal outfit, but the suit and tie is the standard costume of the western world. It has been for the past one or two hundred years, and I doubt it will ever go out of fashion. There is a certain type of try hard that thinks that wearing a suit makes them better than other people, but you can usually tell them apart either by the things they say or their terrible personality. Pic related. If you have a decent personality and aren't actually a try hard, you can totally wear a suit if you want to.
