Let's say Seiko puts a sapphire on their normal Turtles/Samurai/Monster and charges $30 more.
Then their King Samurai/Turtle/Monster that's $200 more expensive has no right to exist anymore. Nobody would buy them simply for the ceramic bezel.
They need to have their tier system to sell more. Can't just put good specs on cheap watches.
If Seiko put better movements into their 6R line then they would fuck themselves over on their higher end lines.
It's always about protecting their own collections from cannibalizing other collections.
