what do I do with my hair other than covering it with a hat and waiting? I'm growing it out and wash it with clay so I don't use any products

the bangs are at an awkward length separate from the rest of the hair and can barely be pulled behind my ears, recently had the urge to cut them short and to have a shaggy bob look but I feel like it'd look dumb
