I think a case can be made that both Dead Poets Society and Emperors Club (both films I love) belong to a subgenre of tip, but I just don't think black is generally understood as an ivy or prep color. Not even trying to be a prick about 'rules,' I wear black plenty, just saying that it's not within what we would consider the orthodox palette
