Whenever I have to wait at the M&S checkout I have a look at all the magazines there. I honestly don't understand who reads Town & Country and similar magazines. They seem similar to FT's How To Spend It, in that they target people how would like the idea of a certain lifestyle but don't actually lead that lifestyle.

Honestly, fashion falls into the same category as fine wine, exotic cars, watches, and art collecting. It's just not a poor person's game. All of these luxury lifestyle products will never by understood by the masses because they simply lack the perspective to see why one might be interested in them, as well as the funds to participate in these hobbies.
