It's 'Donte', according to the fags here...but it's okay. Do you think I'd disappear entirely, until the end of time? Sadly though, I don't have any updates for you guys about combo direction. The all-black thing works so fucking well that there is no reason to change it, both in terms of look as well as practicality. Come colder weather I'll try to find a low turtleneck or mock-neck, but for some reason in my area they're very difficult to find, and when you do find them, they have logos and sport shit in the worst places (like on the neck, or on over the heart). First world problems...

What leather are you sporting Anon?

I've never encountered them in real life, so I can't tell you about them in hand. Given the info on their website, I'd say everything seems to check out (price, materials, options, etc.). The 'Classic Biker' you put in the pics is fine, though in some ways altered to be more fashion-forward (zipper pulls look a little fragile/delicate for a jacket of this design, the waist belt looks somehow too thin for the proportions, etc). Those are not criticisms, just observations (if you compare it to Schott perfectos or any other older manufacturer of double-riders, you'll find things a little more boxy, a little more 'hardy' in their look). It's an aesthetic choice, but one that is clear to my eye. If you go gold zippers, then it'll REALLY look like a fashion jacket; again, that's your choice. With this jacket design I've always been a fan of the opposite: function over form, so anything that makes it look like a retired rapper or reality star would wear it is not something I like.

How does it fit? Have you tried them on in store?

In the defense of first-time buyer Anon, I'd like to point out that there's no way a normal person could know how much needs to go into the first purchase of a leather jacket. All of the decisions need to be more precise, and have longer-lasting repercussions. I'm not the only one of my friends who bought their first leather jacket and learned all the mistakes he made while doing it. It's a very hard learning curve, but once you've got it down, then it's fine. The problem is that there is almost no literature on the net about this at all....all you get are the usual YouTube videos of 'what is trendy now' or 'how a man should wear a leather jacket'. Nothing about what the normal cost should be, or why riding jackets have longer sleeves than non-riding jackets, or any other details that first-time buyers need to know.

Everyone starts at the beginning...

I should probably preface this by saying that the purpose of these posts are to help inform any Anons who genuinely want to purchase this particular model from Soul Revolver. As tempting as it is to label me a shill for SR, the reason behind it is actually more simple. When I found this jacket years ago, I thought 'that's a cool jacket...maybe I'll get it one day'. That day came a few weeks ago...but when I wanted to do some background research on the jacket (the jacket, not the game), I found that there was literally NOTHING about it online. SR has it on their website, and there's a review or two...but beyond this, almost no real-world pics, no postings on leather forums or anything like that....if I didn't know any better, I'd think that no one has bought this jacket, or if they did, they didn't want to broadcast the fact. These could be the reasons...or there could be others. Anyway, I couldn't find anything on it, and even though I could ask questions of the customer service rep at SR (she's awesome, btw), it was still a little unnerving because it's quite a chunk of change.

So, I thought I'd show a few things about this jacket that, at least for me, I would have liked to have known about it before buying.

First, the jacket is atrociously difficult to photograph, so please excuse the light diffusion. The leather is beautifully oiled and supple, and the antiquing appears to be done as a paint or 'finish' of some kind. It's definitely not a leather based antiquing...it's something that is applied. This doesn't seem to react to water (my jacket was almost soaked last night, with no ill effects either to the jacket or me inside of it), as the water will bead off anyway. But it's something to know. To the naked eye, the antiquing doesn't look as artificial as I thought it might. The flag is a proper patch, sewn on, and is also slightly dirty and 'antiqued' the same way as the rest of the jacket.
