>use pinterest to curate a sense of style and also use it as a wishlist via the web extension
>use your existing music and cinema tastes to inspire your style
>half-cosplaying a character you identify with (i.e the
>literally me" crowd buying the drive guys wardrobe) is unironically a good start
>read some menswear blogs
>learn your tailoring size
>trawl eBay and AliExpress for good quality items
>avoid any shirts with polyester in them, and avoid any jackets that happen to be 100% polyester
>just look for cotton, wool, and occasionally linen for hotter weather stuff
>watch gentlemans gazette
>start with mild "dressy casual" looks at first and build out some range in your wardrobe instead of jumping into your "statement outfits" right away
>and don't forget to also work out so your clothes look good on you

there i solved fashion for you, now if i were you i'd go with that and never come back here unless you have a specific question, its not worth lurking here

>I don't want to wear everyone else's worn out shirts that have been worn to work once a week for 5 years.
> I dont want used clothes, I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
wAHHHHH wAHHHHH I don't WANNA wear cheap clothes that fit me and look totally fine!
bitchass.
have you ever gone thrifting before? how shit are thrift stores where you are? You seriously overestimate how "worn out" the clothes are. If the fact that they've been worn before irks you, then just throw them in the washing machine and stop being a pussy.
>I don't have time to start thrifting
look on eBay then! plenty of options. 2 pence shirts a plenty, no holes, no frays.

>Probably a psychological aspect of it too that would give me confidence.
kek
lmao even

>What would you suggest? I dont want fast fashion or polyester shirts or something that will only last 6 months with regular wear.

learn your measurements, get on eBay, look for suits, sport coats, pants, and shirts. it's that easy. You should have a good "going out" outfit, a good business outfit, and two more casual outfits, one for summer, one for colder months. Bonus for an overcoat and scarf.
Shirts and ties are what will help pad out the whole thing. Ideally you can get shirts that go with 2 or maybe more of your suits/jackets, but it's also to get a good french-cuffed shirt for the business outfit, and a casual printed short sleeve is a great piece for the summer one.
As for ties, just splurge on a bulk lot and see what you like from it, if you don't have the time to go searching for specific ones. same for jewelry.
Shoes are probably worth buying new but I don't know too much about where to get those. eBays still fine though.
No shame in supermarket socks just as long as they're black if you're trying to be formal

What I do to figure out how to put together stuff i find on eBay is I use the pinterest web extension to save images from the listings onto a pinterest board with sections dedicated to different styles

leg opening is 7.5 so they arent wide by any stretch of the imagination, but in any case i strongly disagree. those shoes were originally supplied to us navy sailors and worn with 50s military chinos that had a leg opening closer to 9 inches. pic related is newman wearing the exact same model with pants of about 7.5 inch opening. obviously it is all subjective, but this is just my 2 cents on the matter

pro tip:
if youre addicted to buying clothes (like me), make pics of your own fits that you think are good. then when youre disstatisfied with your wardrobe you can look at your own fitpic album and see some good shit that you'd want to wear the next couple of days
saved me a shitton of money
