Reposting from previous thread because I'm not getting any serious responses.

I'm growing my hair out for a manbun. My hair has a lot of volume and poofs out when it gets longer. I am going to start nopoo soon (I've never really done anything with my hair) but what should I do so that my hair is lighter and hangs downwards more?
