Update on the unknown watch I inherited from my grandfather.

I actually went to a god damn library to find out what ASU MARIN AUTOMATIC was for something.
ASU = AB Svenska Urdepoten
It was a Swedish watch importer/manufacturer who had their heydays between 1930 and 1950 and finally dissappeard in 1992.
They started by importing German/Swiss "insides" and put them in Swedish made "cases" but they also later made complete watches themselves under the name Exacta and Contacta. I don't know any of the correct terminology for the watch parts but I'm sure you understand me.
They produced roughly 15.000 watches per year and the watches were budget watches with "good quality".

The watch I have here would cost around $50 new in todays money, you can find similar watches on auctions for $10 to $100.
I still can't find the specific model that I have but after looking at pictures it seems my watch is from the 1940's and they were supposedly popular with the military for being not expensive but also quite rugged so that would fit with my grandfather getting it during WW2.

Some of you wanted me to open it up but I dare not because I don't know what I'm doing and I don't want to damage it.
I'm gonna find a strap for it, try to clean it up as best I can and then wear it.

I have never worn a wrist watch in my life before but I have found I greatly prefer the looks of the older and more minimal watches instead of honestly the majority of the watches in this thread. I might even have a new hobby now because watches are interesting as fuck.
