Is it just me or do 99.9% of watches look ugly or bland?

Here is just a random watch I picked from a respectable brand. The design looks like it was made by an intern in a few minutes in photoshop. It's so bland that I wonder why you would even bother wearing this over just using your phone to tell the time or some cheap digital casio.
