I was looking at california dials because i remembered them all of a sudden and found it.
The rolex is nicknamed bubble back and is some version of a 1930 oyster perpetual. Google that stuff, there is so much interesting variations in the older ones. Now the standard submariner appears even more boring and uncreative.

The idea behind it is to easier distinguish between the numerals. It's alway 2 numbers, indice(rectangle or triangle). They figured out that this would be the best method to see them under water.

I came to a similar conclusion

>have trouble to distinguish between the 4 and 5 hour dot when only glancing at it quickly

Out of boredom i turned my diving rings triangle to the 4 dot, now its easier. Of course i can just look a moment longer and see it easily, but that would be boring.

Yep, there are many versions of them. Would wear the left one because i am slowly developing boomer tastes and liking two tones.
