oh, and as for an answer to the question, you could always turn to ordering stuff online

brown shoes and black jeans don't frequently go together, no, but some other colors like color 8 might work, so you don't necessarily need to go for black. though black is good

under 300 there are some options, personally I think Red Wing's supersole boots look neat, and they're like 220ish, but I don't know how those soles are on snow and ice, so I can't recommend it

In any case, the important thing is to find something with a lug sole or something like that, so you won't be slipping and sliding. The Red Wing icecutter looks good for that, but it's over 300.

I'm not terribly experienced with winter boots, actually. I narrowly survived last winter in Oak Street Bootmakers camp boots, but they weren't ideal. This winter I'm getting some kudu leather Alden boots with a lug sole so that I don't slip and slide quite as much as last year.

I can say from experience, though, that the Vibram 2060 is the worst sole ever for snow and ice - about as bad as boat shoe soles. The vibram christy is a lot better, but still not good.

I'll know after this winter how some of my newer cops fare. I'm interested in seeing how the gum lite sole on my mountain trails will do, but I can't yet say

as for wetness, I mostly spend my time downtown, so I don't have much experience dealing with that. Mostly the snow isn't too bad there.

I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful.

if you had checked in on Black Friday, they were $157 then

(though I concede that this does not help you now)
