When certain forms of electronic music were still very nascent, DJ's would go around and pick odd, one-off songs that all fit a certain 'feeling' and they would compose their sets with these songs.
Eventually, the birth of the proper warehouse party and the spinning habits of these DJ's gave us different varieties of House (or 'warehouse') music.
What happens in a situation like this is that the tastemakers go out and do the best they can with what they have, and eventually the designers and producers catch on or are influenced by it.
Then, those people start producing more and more things that fit the bill because they know there's a very specific audience out there looking for it.

Boom, a subgenre is born.

If nobody pioneers new ideas, nobody gets anyplace. If you're not satisfied with your reality, you can change it. That's what's happening here.
