You really won't find a meaningful sense of value or confidence in yourself through clothes, cars or property until you do some work on your own mind and soul first. It's like building a beautiful home in a marshland, without first laying a steady foundation.

If you want to adjust yourself, work on your self esteem. Do things that will make you proud of yourself, and it will carry through in your smile, your body language and the way you walk. You could learn a skill you always secretly desired, you could set small challenges for yourself and step up the difficulty over time, to build the armor you need on the inside. The not giving a fuck will come naturally, I promise.
School and good grades clearly aren't doing that for you.

Don't attempt to patch a bullet wound with a band-aid, it's not a solution.

Same exact thing happened to me like 6 months ago, OP. 3 year relationship, I axed it. I had to, I was pretty incompatible when all was said and done. I just got through running and don't want to get into it, but I will tell you that it passes and you shouldn't hide from the feelings. If you don't cry now you'll cry later so just go get it over with and face all the emotions head on without a sedative until they no longer give you that soft twinkle of regret in the pit of your stomach because the novelty of it all has been ground to a nub.
Go, grieve. You'll make it.

You can reach that place by other means. That place is where a good part of all art and fashion and music is actually coming from. It's easier to access in states of ecstasy, and it's even easier to feel its truth slip from you when you leave those places, fading like a dream. I think this is why it's so easy to discount the truth of that place; we're anchored in the here and now. Moments of beatitude are far and few in between.

You can burn yourself out if you access the place artificially too much; your mind will grind its wonders down to dust. You're also only getting a fragment of it when you do so.
If you want this Void to be with you always, consider art, poetry, music, meditation and certain sports. The difficulty of getting there is much greater, but so are the rewards.
