yep. try reading the preppy handbook, it has a big section on female clothing
a lot of the basics are similar to male, but usually with a skirt instead of pants (although chinos on women can look good too as long as they arent skintight, i'd mostly avoid jeans if i were you).
black clothing for women for women is very accepted compared to men but i dont really like it, i live in a preppy town and the girls often wear black and i dont really like it

i like a wide variety of girls, not necessarily preppy girls but i like girls who wear a lot of skirts and dresses and girls who avoid sneakers

man this thread makes me want to wear more dresses and skirts, but i live in a place where dressing nice makes you a weirdo. yes, even SKIRTS are too 'dressy'. folks sometimes even mistake you for a Mennonite and harass/ follow you around town. it's stupid. i hate this aspect of my canadian town. (i don't know if it's just in BC? i've been to small towns in Alberta and the only folks wearing skirts there are Mennonite too, but then again the whole towns were Mennonite)

the norm for public here is jeans, pajamas, leggings and hoodies. even in the workplace (except pajamas ofc).
i have a simple dress i love and have always want to wear, but 0 occasions have come up in the 5 years i've had it. weddings, business functions, ect. even the town's fanciest establishment for rich visitors.
everyone is afraid of giving a fuck and being too 'dressy'.
