he's still full of shit; spending $225 or so on pure blue japans was one of my better sartorial investments considering i've gotten more than 900 wears out of them. a solid pair of boots will outlast you with proper care. to say nothing of how delicate a silk chiffon would be if walmart made an attempt; that shit wouldn't make it out of the factory without disintegrating.

i don't really understand the appeal of spending a lot on a dress for one occasion, especially considering that most prom (and wedding) dresses are actually pretty awful. i would much rather have something that could follow me day to day; not a wedding dress, but a dress to wear to my wedding.
