Well I'm in the market for a gold watch too but I wonder why it has to be 14kt? Can you give us a picture of what the other jewelry you wear looks like?
There should be plenty of not overly polished Cartiers, JLCs and even Breitlings and Rolexes in that price bracket of you're willing to buy used. Those may not be 14k of course. What style are you looking for? Vintage looking three hander with metal bracelet?
You can also do what I did which is buy a cheap fake gold watch (pic related) and save up for the real thing in the meantime instead of settling for a mildly expensive mistake.

Oh nevermind you were talking about gold pated watches, I don't really know much about that.
I do have a gold Seiko Turtle to check out how gold looks on me before I take the big plunge, Farah style.
