High end socks are made out of silk, mohair, cashmere, extremely high end fine merino wool, very expensive long staple cottons, ones that make Egyptian cotton look like rough texas cotton in comparison. They are also much more carefully quality controlled and their machinery and production process is very different than a Chinese factory making tube socks.

There is scam garbage at every price point. Especially designer stuff is very frequently the same as a $10 wallet but they slap a logo on it and mark it up 1000x. Just like when you buy a $2 package of tube socks, one brand might fall apart instantly and be itchy, another might be durable and soft.
Is the difference in quality worth the money? It depends, on how much money you have and how you want to spend it
