Conspicuous consumption is global, the internet is global. There is discerning consumption too- which is global, not region locked.
We're not in a region locked market.

I'm not suggesting that it's Europeans that are driving Yohji's profits, I'm saying how Yohji is marketing himself seems to do well at pandering to the contemporary market, to global trends which are highly valued in luxury consumer culture (i.e. eccentric visual appeal).

I feel like those people you're describing are in the minority... and really probably have no interest in understanding clothing production pipelines.
