Citizen Skyhawk. Robust, traveler GMT, the slide rule is actually useful for quick currency conversion, and it does not look inappropriate in an eventual formal situation on leather.
And inexpensive enough that you don't need to care.

For a cheapo one watch collection, it's hard to beat the Citizen Nighthawk IMO.
It's 42mm but that's perfectly fine for a pilot and the lug-to-lug distance is short.
It's damn comfortable and on a leather strap it's classy enough for any realistic social situation.
