In the US, old money tends to wear Timexes as a symbolic gesture with the approximate meaning of: "Fancy watches are for waiters and taxi drivers."

Is there an equivalent watch brand in the UK or continental Europe?

Or is the concept a little weird for European old money, which is quite happy to wear double-sided gold cufflinks and the like out of a stronger sense of tradition, without even looking at it as a flashy thing to do?
