>But is movado pleb tier?
Movada used to be a decent company pre-quartz crisis (pre 70').
Today it is overpriced quartz junk and basic, overpriced mechanicals mostly associated with medium level american malls.

In america, it is a low mall-tier watch. That's their market segment, and that's to whom they cater. Plebs who don't want to be so plebby and aspire to be higher than where they are.

Which is kinda sad IMO, since I think the museum dial is kinda neat. It would be unique, but they've gone so fucking overboard with it that the design has lost most of its novelty, well, that and because they plaster it onto junk watches.

It's sad that they didn't have the foresight to do some proper brand planning and decided to settle into what's probably the comfortable niche of selling to the lower middle class.

So, it's not diesel or fossil or nixon, but it's basically a slightly more refined variant of that species.
And it doesn't have the humble dignity of say, casio which has no delusions about it's affordable, practical nature.
Movado caters to those with flimsy airs of "luxury", who wouldn't know the word if it raped them in the face, but they think they know it, and so they buy movado.

They cost more than they should, they're not very valuable due to overexposure in the wrong places and quality is so so for what you get.

You'll never be able to sell one, if that was ever a consideration for you; just-give-it-away-tier for movado.

Avoid unless you have money to burn on frivolous junk.
