Yeah they are. I'm really pleased with them, I'm on a student budget too and think they're pretty great for the price point. Would say they're slightly chunkier than they appear on their site but docs always are.

They are however pretty radically uncomfortable to start off with, they really dig in at the heel and need some serious breaking in, so get yourself some plasters :) possibly that's due to me sizing down but I doubt it looking at reviews

theyre a lot less clowny than standard docs as you'd hope. still they're a little chunkier irl than they look on the site so size down as evs, certainly wouldn't buy 9s from a clownishness POV cause I'm about your height and I bought 7s.
be prepared for bloody heels btw they are probably the hardest shoes to break in I've ever had.
